Fighting the Flu :

Flu Shots For Your Kids

By - POSTED Jan 21, 2013

Winter is a season filled with so many exciting events for kids, the holidays, sledding, and the prospect that any school day could turn into a snow day. However there is one aspect of this time of year every parent dreads, and that is the possibility of their kids catching the flu! This year in particular has been called one of the worst flu seasons in history, targeting children and the elderly as its main victims. I make it a point to give my kids flu shots every year, and have been lucky enough to keep them healthy during this flu season. The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends that all children ages six months and older receive an annual influenza vaccine. The AAP states that children who have certain chronic medical conditions such as asthma, diabetes, immunosuppression, or neurologic disorders have an even high risk of flu like complications, and should definitely be vaccinated. However, some parents are against giving their kids flu shots and prefer to rely on more holistic remedies such as vitamin D supplements to help their families fight the flu. With so much controversy surrounded around this flu season we want to know, do you like flu shots for your kids?
