Imps & Elfs: Organic Baby T-shirts

Too often brands think that they can sell anything to babies so long as they are made of organic cotton.  The market is flooded with poorly designed organic baby clothes and it is refreshing to see one of the pioneers in organic baby clothes still paying as much attention to design as they do toward using eco-friendly fabric.  This super sute long sleeve girls organic baby t-shirt is a great example – well cut, in  sophisticated grey this baby tee is as attractive looking as the company’s eco-friendly ethos. Kids Coats, Appaman Jackets

As kids go back to school for the winter term and if Santa did not bring a winter coat, take a look at these Appaman kids coats. They are very popular not just because they are simple, stylish and elegant, especially for boys, but also because they are down-filled, warm and cozy. Take a look, they are now marked down from $95 to $65 and are still available in a few colors.

Estella kids sweater with contrast color elbow stitch details. Hand knit in Nepal exclusively for Estella, these kids sweaters are made of 100% soft wool.

This sweater can be a great layering piece during the winter. When my children were infants I got into the habit of always dressing them in baby clothes that could be endlessly layered if I decided to venture out with them that day.

Regardless of the temperature outside or if I was planning a trip out or not, I would always start with a layer of tight fitting baby onesies or rompers. I always found these great for lounging in the house or as a great base. If for instance I decided to take my girls out, I could put baby baby dresses on top of their onepiece suit. I liked the bamboo rompers because with all the layering, I always worried about them overheating. And the nice thing about bamboo is that more than any other fabric, it absorbs moisture and keeps the skin dry.

So after the baby onesies, baby can stay home all day or if I decided to go out, I could add as many layers as I might need of either baby boys clothes or baby girls clothes. On a super cold day, I could add a looser fitting romper on top of the tighter fitting one then add a sweater, pants and a nice warm snowsuit before putting them into a stroller blanket. I tried to get snowsuits that are made of super-warm, yet light weight fabric because the more you layer, the less comfortable baby can be unless you use comfortable fitting clothing. Even the stroller blanket should allow baby to maneuver and feel comfortable. Dressing them comfortably eliminates one potential source of discomfort and make for a less irritable baby and therefore less irritable parent. Sleepless nights are bad enough during infancy that we need not add more misery to our day than need be.
