New Arrivals; Album di Famiglia Spring/Summer 09

There’s a reason this Italian baby and children’s clothing designer has developed a cult-like following. Album di Famiglia’s Spring/Summer 2009 collection is filled with thin jersey rompers, linen separates, and light cotton essentials all in the brand’s signature chic pallette. Favorites, like the Dada cinch bottom dress, have been updated with large pop art-y polka dots. We love this adorable romper onesie with a snap up v-neck as a summer must-have. The light-weight jersey makes sticky-hot days bearable, especially because your baby will be looking super adorable! See the entire Album di Famiglia line here.

Stylish Easter Dresses for Girls

It’s March 25th – do you have your child’s Easter outfit planned? Instead of that drab pastel Easter “uniform” that comes to mind when you think of the holiday, why not opt for a fun and stylish dress she’ll want to wear beyond April 12th? These girl’s Easter dresses are totally egg hunt-worthy (and are amazing for the rest of Spring and Summer!)

  1. Girls Dress in Purple Plaid by Simple Kids - This dress by Belgian designer kids clothing label Simple Kids is reminiscent of Little House on the Prairie… without all those crazy mutton sleeves. The purple/pink plaid is perfect for Spring.

  2. Tie-Dye Silk Girl’s Dress with Ruffles – Anything but subtle, this gorgeous Max & Lola dress is sure to make a statement wherever she goes. Silk tie-dyed in gorgeous jewel tones, pleats, ruffles… what more could you ask for?
  3. Girls Printed Silk Summer Dress by Caramel Baby & Child – The beautiful print on this silk girls dress reminds me of the patterns of flowers and foliage seen through a kaleidoscope. Features subtle pleating and pockets.
  4. Stylish Girls Dress with Tulle by Max and Lola – Fun and quirky, this artichoke print girls dress featuring pink tulle detailing is an unconventional Easter dress for your unconventional girl.

Victoria Christmas at Estella featured in Daily Candy!

Daily Candy, one of our favorite web-based insider shopping guides, has featured one of Estella’s newest additions to our growing collection of eco-friendly organic baby clothing lines. Victoria Christmas‘ design philosophy is to create baby clothing that is designed and produced in a responsible manner while maintaining comfort for the little wearer’s sensitive skin and keeping a chic and simple aesthetic. The French line sources its fabrics from Japan, where the cotton is grown organically, meaning it is free of chemicals, pesticides, GMO’s, harmful dyes or chlorine bleach. The organic baby line is perfect for newborns and infants with sensitive skin – they also make thoughtful newborn baby gifts!

Fresh Knits For Spring from MorMor

Last Winter, Estella introduced this hip new Danish hand-knit baby clothing company to New York City. It was received with a warm welcome by parents who were looking for warm, stylish clothing for their kids and perhaps found the vintage styling reminiscent of the stuff their grandmas used to hand-knit for them. This entire line is, in fact, lovingly hand-knit by a team of grandmas in Denmark who have carried on the traditional handiwork for generations (each piece is even signed by the artisan who knit it!). Be Spring ready with these lovely knits from MorMor

 1. Baby Handknit Blue Cap by Mor Mor - What hip young urbanite wouldn’t want this knit newsboy baby cap? For bad hair days and times they need a little shade, this hat does the job with panache.

 2. MorMor Hand-Knit Cotton Cardigan Sweater - You can never go wrong with this classic grey hand-knit baby cardigan. Thrown over any outfit, this cardigan completes the look with a polished, sophisticated feel (just ignore the fact that she’s just thrown spaghetti in her hair…)

 3. Baby Girl Handknit Dress by Mor Mor - This gorgeous hand-knit dress may look delicate, but it was certainly made to last which is great news as it can “morph” into a blouse as your little girl grows. Whether in lilac or cream, this dress looks just right for a Springtime stroll or picnic in the park.

4. Baby Handknit Shorts in Cream by Mormor - These adorable hand-knit shorts look great over a cute baby onesie.

 5. Baby Boy Striped Blue Vest by Mor Mor - MorMor make sweater vests hip again with this striped number. The deep blue and grey organic yarns combine beautifully to create a timeless look.

Designer Baby Clothes Contest: Win $100 in Baby Clothes from Your Favorite Designer

Hip Designer Baby Clothes and accessories are what you’ve come to expect from Estella, and this spring we’re asking for your help in finding the next big thing. Is there a baby clothing designer that you love, but wish had more exposure? Is there a line of baby clothing you’ve been dying to see at Estella? If so, tell us why you believe their clothing would work at our boutique – your input could win you $100 worth of baby clothing from them! Here’s how it works:

Leave a comment under this post with the name of the designer and why you love their clothing. We’re looking for a line that will mesh well aesthetically with the lines that we already sell at Estella, yet bring something new to the table (see our current designer baby clothing lines here http://Estella-Nyc.com/designer-baby-clothes.html). Here are several tips to keep in mind when submitting a designer;

  • The designer should make clothing for newborns in infant sizes up to 18 months old.
  • We’re looking for Designer Baby Clothing that has a keepsake quality to it. Think of those special pieces in your child’s wardrobe you’ll want to keep around long after your children outgrow them.
  • We stock clothing that is well made and looks great wash after wash. Clothing you can pass from child to child without looking like a hand-me-down.
  • Practicality is key. We’re looking for a designer who takes the sensitivity of babies’ skin in mind when it comes to designing, which means fabric should be non-abrasive and take into account the wear-and-tear of daily use. We prefer machine washable and easy to care for clothes.
Submit your recommendation on our blog with your explanation on why you think the line would work at Estella. If we like what we see, you could win $100 worth of baby clothing! This contest is open to every designer baby clothing enthusiast (excluding baby clothes designers, their relatives, agents and employees.) See the rules at http://Estella-Nyc.com/privacypolicy.html. Good Luck!

Estella Baby Boutique on Ugly Betty

We’d like to thank all of the participants in our Ugly Betty contest and to those who tuned in for the episode, “Sugar Daddy”, that aired last night, which featured Estella as Wilhelmina’s go-to baby store. Following her orders, Amanda and Marc head off to Estella to pick up organic baby onesies and cashmere diapers when they bump into dad Jodie, who says Estella is “the best baby store ever” to which Marc replies, “it’s like my favorite place in all of New York City.” Stay tuned to find out the winner, which will be announced here on Monday, March 9th, when we will also unveil our next contest.  Be sure to add Estella’s Baby Clothes Blog to your RSS feedreader to be included in all of our future contests and giveaways!
