Heading out the door the other day with my toddler in tow it occurred to me she looked more like a puffy pink marshmallow than a beautiful little girl. After all, cold days call for some drastic bending of the rules of fashion!
All bundled up in a winter jacket, complete with mittens, a hat and even snow pants, she might have doubled for a hockey goalie if pressed into action. When we arrived at our destination and I peeled off the layers, it struck me she didn’t look much better. While jeans certainly keep her warm, they sure defeat that cute baby doll look I generally go for with her ensembles.
That’s when a wiser mommy friend of mine stepped in to save the day. She recommended I give girls tights and leggings a try when the temperatures dip. I listened and I’m sure glad I did!
Thanks to the many styles, colors and thicknesses available, I’ve discovered I can have my cake and eat it, too. I don’t have to reserve designer baby clothes for warm days any more. When a warm pair of leggings or tights is matched with the right dress or blouse and a comfortable jacket, mittens, hat and scarf, the temperatures outside don’t get in the way of making sure my daughter’s look is spectacular.
Toddler leggings are simply adorable and they bring a few other benefits to the table that standard slacks just can’t compete with. Since tights and leggings are in and have been for little girls for a long time, they are the perfect accompaniment for any outfit – no matter how dressed up or down it happens to be. Plus, they are very easy to remove for those fast changes that are often necessary with little ones. Toddlers will be toddlers!
Estella’s designer leggings are absolutely the way to go. The higher quality cotton found in these designer toddler leggings breathes adding to my daughter’s comfort. Plus, the fit is spectacular even over a diaper. We don’t have to worry about unattractive bunching when the correct size is selected.
While I must admit I still take her out in the cold dressed like a marshmallow, she looks great when we arrive and I peel off those layers!

Our recent brutally cold temperatures have certainly put a cramp in our jogger Moms’ styles, haven’t they? Even if Mom has the warm outerwear to survive an early morning run, it’s pretty difficult to get babies out in this weather. The littlest members of the family seem to always be the hardest ones to keep warm. They get chilled so easily and wiggle out of garments pretty easily, too.
But, never fear! Our new 7 am Enfant Stroller Footmuff (http://www.estella-nyc.com/7am.html ) will remove your “it’s too cold to take the baby out” excuse for good. It is one of my very favorite products, because it’s a great piece of baby outerwear to look at, and I think it’s one of the most practical baby jackets we carry. It fits every stroller imaginable, too.
The reason I’m so over the moon for 7 am’s Enfant Footmuff is that it truly keeps baby warm from head to toe. It’s nylon and waterproof, and has a zip up ergonomic hood that really protects baby’s head from the cold. And, this baby outerwear is so adjustable that it’s actually a great investment, too. It fits from birth to 4 years old. What other piece of baby outerwear can you find that can do that? And, with so many colors to choose from, it definitely falls into the category of “designer baby clothes”. We’ve even seen Michelle Williams strolling her adorable daughter Matilda around in one courtesy of Celebrity Baby Blog.
So, when it’s time for that morning run, just snuggle baby into that 7 am Enfant Footmuff, put him in the stroller and off you go. You’ll stay in shape right through the winter, and baby will be toasty warm and riding in style!

I guess the reason I love my job here at Estella so much is that I love to shop. And, finding great clothes for you and yours is just another form of shopping. Today I’ve got a great excuse for you to shop: our little girls dresses are on sale.
Little girls and dresses are just the perfect combination. And, I love it when I find dresses that actually look like dresses for little girls, rather than downsized women’s clothes. For that reason, I love the line of little girl and baby girl dresses we’ve assembled at Estella. Though we have a wide range of dress styles for little girls, they all look like they belong on a little girl. And I think your little girls will like them, too. Because of course, there comes that time when you can’t pick out her clothes anymore, because she’s become such a fashion maven in her own right, like Lily, one of my favorites little mavens at Mommy Tracked.
This sale is particularly exciting because we have dresses that your little ones can wear right now, as well as beautiful styles for the spring. And, the prices are fabulous – you can buy one of each!
Now that the temperatures are especially cold, it’s a great time to pair some of those winter dresses with warm tights or leggings. http://www.estella-nyc.com/babygirlsale-fallwinterclothes.html
But, when spring rolls around, your little princess can sport bare legs and cute sandals with all the spring styles. Easter comes the first weekend in April this year, and if you shop right now, you can be ready way ahead of time, and avoid the price increases that will undoubtedly happen once the weather warms.
I love finding designer baby clothes, and I love bringing you high quality outfits. But, there’s no question that one of the things I love most is seeing our beautiful little girls’ dresses on your beautiful little girls. And, when I can help you find them at great prices, it’s all the better!

Cool Boys Clothing from Australian brand Munster
Last season, Munster, purveyor of all things cool, brought us awesome hoodies, relaxed jeans with subtle embellishments and refreshing graphic tees that boys l-o-v-e-d (and we’re sure you know just how picky toddler boys can be!), so we were especially excited for the arrival of their Spring collection.
It’s no surprised that the new arrivals from this hip Australian kid’s streetwear brand is being received so well: ultra soft 100% cotton tees that they’ll live in this upcoming Spring/Summer are paired with clever graphics (Bike Wizard tee, anyone?) and statement pieces (see the witty “Don’t Start Wars”/Star Wars tee above). Munster’s boy shorts are breezy and cool, ranging from the ultra casual printed organic cotton drawstring shorts, perfect for the skate park, to something more refined, like the Martial Cotton Pinstripe Short. Boy, we can already tell this Summer is going to look great!

claesens baby rompers
Ring in the new year with new arrivals at Estella! Claesens is a Dutch brand we introduced to our store last season; their bright, graphic designs and ultra soft cottons made their signature contrast trim onesies an instant hit. The price tag didn’t hurt, either: at $25 a piece, you can afford to get one for all the lucky babies in your life.
