I See You

yhst-87491494023326_2129_147642394

One of my biggest fears is losing my daughter in a store. She’s at the age where she’s has her own agenda. That agenda, unfortunately, doesn’t always mean staying right next to me. She loves to explore. And those adventures are usually in a different aisle than mommy is.

Sometimes I miss those days where she was confined to an infant carrier. I would place her down, walk away (not super far, don’t worry), come back, and there she was. Right where I put her.

Nowadays when we go somewhere with crowds, I try to dress her as brightly as I can, just so I can keep track of her easily. That’s why I loved these fantastic plaid baby trousers by Opus. Even though they’re for those tiny babes (you know, those who stay put when you ask them to), the loud pattern is a delightfully happy display of look-at-me colors.

As if their loud screams and giggles aren’t enough to draw your attention to your little one, the tiny bright checks on these pants are anything but subtle. The cross patterns of primary colored plaids have some serious “I’m right here” appeal that just makes you smile.

As my daughter grows, I’m sure her height (which is in the 90 percentile) will become my focal point on finding her in crowd. Until then, we’re pulling out the neon, little girl. Consider it your “see and be seen” fashion moment.

Album di Famiglia Cotton/Angora Baby Overall

yhst-87491494023326_2120_576202

Suspenders and overalls have never really been on my “must have” radar for fashion. When I see them, I think of farmers, ‘70s game show hosts, and power players like stockbrokers. No offense to any of these groups. But even when I was pregnant, I denied the urge to break out a giant pair of men’s overalls to keep my bloated belly contained. I just couldn’t bring myself to do it. The time my husband came down the stairs wearing suspenders with his dress shirt, I quietly saved him by sending him back upstairs for a belt instead.

As it turns out, overalls and suspenders can be cool. And, in the case of this adorable little footie overall, they can even keep someone warm. Italy’s Album di Famiglia has created the perfect blend of cozy cotton and can’t-stop-touching-it-soft angora for a light but toasty warm baby overall. The go-with-anything gray color is a little winter cloud of cuteness. As your little one settles his or her tiny toes into the footies, delicate suspender-like straps keep even the wiggliest of babies in an envelope of warmth.

The next time you settle in front of nighttime TV for a good dose of “Let’s Make a Deal,” or when you buy a carton of eggs or stash away some cash for the little one’s college future, think of it this way…now you’re involved in something fun, something tasty, something good, and apparently something fashionable.

Stay Clean, Little One

yhst-87491494023326_2116_83690909

Dear Little One,

I’m writing to you to request that you stop making such a mess. Just stop. Why, oh why, must I change your pants every hour? First it’s stuff you’ve dropped on yourself during breakfast. How you manage to circumvent the table and the bib, I will never know. Then something always leaks during naptime, what with the many directions you wiggle in. We can only guess what that is. Then snack is another mess. Same with dinner. Please stop. I beg.

If you don’t cease, I will have to take drastic measures. No more pretty pinks. No more lemon yellows. You will be forced to wear only shades that don’t show your indiscretions.

Actually, truth be told, this doesn’t sound like such a bad twist of fall fashion fate. Take these elegantly dark purple pants from French Bon Bon. Elegant, Oui! Versatile, but of course! And the French clearly understand my trials of keeping you in tip top baby form. Why else would they make such comfy yet functional baby pants? Even the gentle elastic bands seem to say, “We are trying to keep things both in these pants and out of these pants.” It’s a je ne sais quoi of French fashion that speaks to me.

The dark purple makes it almost impossible to see stains, so if I want to ignore that you just dropped a bunch on spaghetti on your lap, I’m going to do so. At least until the end of lunch. No one can tell. And you can’t tell on me cause you can’t really form sentences yet, can you?

Love,

Your Mother

Harem Pants are Made for Summer

yhst-87491494023326_2105_149824018

Summer is definitely coming and for some of us, it appears to be already here. The signs are everywhere as the local ice cream trucks are regularly doing their rounds and sandals have made themselves at home on the feet of countless bodies.  So it seems that now is the time to put away the long pants, sweatshirts, jackets and bulky sweaters and take out your baby’s summer wear. Still, there is no use in rifling though your box of last year’s summer stuff.  In case you haven’t noticed, your baby has totally sprouted.  Those cute chubby legs that looked like a doughnut wrapped around a state fair turkey drumstick have stretched.  Long and lean, that kid has grown.

But never fear!  We can help you start their new summer wardrobe off right with a few pair of our Baby Harem Pants by Album di Famiglia.  There’s nothing scarem about these adorable harem pants.  Perfect for summer days and nights, harem pants are the most comfortable baby clothes for summer. These 100% cotton poplin Album di Famiglia’s harem pants are the ultimate combination of funky modernism and baby sweet chic. A drawstring waist allows the pants to grow with your baby all summer, and the leg tie closures complete the look.  Available in tan with subtle classic pinstripes and in a modern gray, these pants will be your favorites, all summer. The most comfortable baby clothes for summer!

Now, if only you could find that box of sand toys…
